Action At A Distance
The focus of this series is to explore methods of production which remove direct evidence of the artist’s hand. Every mark that make up these pieces was made by flies, and all the marks are fly excrement. My input is designing the process and influencing the colour, shape and texture of the marks, but the process also embraces the inherent chance and chaos of organic materials and natural processes. In this way the works can be seen as collaborations with nature, where the artist’s hand is only present at a remove.
